Vee brakes

The vee brake, or direct-pull cantilever brake is a type of rim brake originally developed for mountain bikes and subsquently used on hybrids, touring bikes and folding bikes. The brake calipers consist of two long brake arms independently sprung. The brake cable enters from the side.

Vee brakes provide lots of stopping power. They require a different type of brake lever than caliper brakes and cantilever brakes.

Sometimes spelt ‘v brakes’.
